Ballyhoura Apple Farm started life at Clashganniv in Churchtown in 2006 when over 1,000 apple trees were planted and a further 1,000 were planted in Spring 2007. A further 2,500 were planted in Spring 2008. In 2014 the entire orchard was transported to Kilfinane and thankfully over 95% of our trees survived the trip. The picture below shows an aerial view of the first 2,000 apple trees in Churchtown.
New innovative food products with apples as a base has endless potential. Ballyhoura Apple Farm has a number of new innovative apple based products developed. We hope to develop much further our mail order business which will connect the end consumer direct to the producer. The internet is a crucial element of this strategy. Ballyhoura Apple Farm is also in discussions with some larger multiple supermarket operators.
